Privacy Policy

Effective October 11, 2026

PupQuiet by ecohome ("PupQuiet", "the app") is made by ecohome ("ecohome", "we", "us"). It listens for thunder, fireworks and explosions through your device's microphone and quiets your speakers when it hears one, so your dog isn't startled.

What the app handles and where it stays

Information Why Where it stays How long
Live microphone sound To recognise thunder, fireworks and explosions Processed in memory on your device by Apple's built-in sound recognition. Never saved to a file and never sent anywhere. Discarded within about a second
Sound readings (loudness, type of sound, confidence, timings) To decide when to quiet your speakers, and to show you the event history On your device only Last 100 events in the history, until you clear it or delete the app
Diagnostic log (the same kind of readings, every tenth of a second; never audio), if you leave it on To work out why a boom was missed or a dip happened On your device only, unless you choose to attach it to a problem report About the last 20 minutes, overwritten as it goes
Your settings, and how loud your room usually is To remember how you want the app to behave and to tell booms from normal TV sound On your device only Until you change them or delete the app
Speaker and TV details (name, model, network address, device ID, and the pairing key a TV gives the app when you choose Allow) To find and control your speaker or TV On your device only Until you choose another device or delete the app
The speaker's volume and mute state before the app quieted it So the app can put your speakers back exactly as they were, even after a restart On your device only Cleared as soon as the sound is restored
Feedback you send: your message, your email if you give it, and, only if you leave those switches on, app details (version, system version, kind of speaker, settings), the brands and models of devices found, and recent history To read it, reply if you asked, fix problems and decide which devices to support next Sent to ecohome only when you tap Send. Stored by our hosting provider, Cloudflare, and emailed to our team. No device names, network addresses or audio are included. Sending by email instead goes through your own mail app. Up to one year, then deleted automatically; sooner if you ask

We don't receive any of this information, except feedback you choose to send.

What we don't do

Permissions the app asks for

Permission Why If you say no
Microphone To hear thunder, fireworks and explosions in the room The app can't protect your dog. You can turn it on later in your device's Settings.
Local Network To find and control your speaker or TV on your home Wi-Fi The app can't reach your speaker or TV.
Keep screen awake (iPhone and iPad, only while protecting) So listening continues while the device sits on its charger Not a permission prompt. It stops when you stop protecting.

While the app is listening, your device shows its normal microphone indicator.
