How it works

Listens on your device

A spare iPhone, iPad or Mac near the TV listens for booms. Sound is analysed on the device and never recorded.

Reacts in about a tenth of a second

A sudden loud crack lowers the volume at once; when the sound is confirmed as a boom, the speakers mute.

Puts it all back

A few seconds after the last boom, your volume and mute settings return exactly as you left them.
